Craig Bougie! Born Sept. 5, 1934 in Creedance Clearwater Revivable This well humoured former Marconi's Wunderkind is no stranger to the airwaves. In 1941 at the popular age of 3, Craig made his initial radio debut as 'Tito' on the Fort Schudler Presents Radio Hour. His endearing capers and stolid determination to remain impervious to the pains of being bitten and dropped went a long way toward helping the Free World smile and soundly defeat the daemons and Joe Kennedy during that fell winter of 1942. Following Kietel's capitulation in LUBECK (fast forward to 1946), Craig gained fame as "Tommy": the plucky boy who beat rabies, in What's Next, a hugely popular daytime radio drama that enjoyed a lengthy run on early television (1946-1953), revolving around the adventures of Tommy, a lonely youngster who, when bitten by a rabid Halibut, survives to become spokesperson for an international ski resort consortium. The hilarious tagline of each episode was uttered after another misadventure: "What's next?" The catchphrase was widely used nationwide by adoring fans. Craig easily negotiated the difficult jump to the big screen in 1954 tackling the lead role of Reg Vomquist in Just For Kicks, a somewhat lurid tale of a lonely masochist who lives only to be kicked by anyone willing and able to do it, often more than once! He meets and falls in love with Frankie, played by LITTLE DEBBIE. While healing, she is suddenly besmitten with Goober Naytor, a wealthy young Air pilot (played by TIMOTHY CAREY), they are married and eventually she leaves Reg, only to be attacked by the same viscous and still rabid Halibut (trivia buffs take note: veteran heavy John Feidler provides the voice of the fish). Next, Craig portrayed the lonely misfit "Jeff" in Stig Fassbinder's epic flop Where Do You Traipse, Uncle Bonnet? Craig has since purchased, and destroyed, all known copies of this box office disaster, save one, the sole existing copy was most graciously donated by Craig to the International Institute Of Celluloid Schadenfruede in Munchen. Since then his career has gone from strength to strength. Craig's list of screen credits is too numerous to cite in its entirety, but perhaps his most memorable are:
Most recently, Craig supplied the voice of Sammy, the lonely old miner in the forthcoming Disney family classic Raise Your Right Arm. Past President of and tireless campaigner for Urinal Cakes for the Poor. Long time member of the CHUMS OF GRUMPY philanthropic society. Craig is an amateur, (but avid!) phrenologist, and trepanner. |
